Dr. Alex Powell, a conversation on the audition and post-audition process

Please join us as Dr. Powell discusses the next steps for students who have applied for college music programs. He will address auditions and what to expect, approaches to evaluating and comparing admission and financial aid offers, the financial aid appeal process, overall cost of attendance and hidden costs, work study, waitlists, and how to continue to prepare for college.

About the presenter: Dr. Alex Powell has more than fifteen years of experience in college and conservatory enrollment, financial aid, and administration. He served as the Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid at the New England Conservatory in Boston, Dean of Enrollment and Aid at the Cleveland Institute of Music, and Director of Admissions and Student Services at the Longy School of Music of Bard College. Dr. Powell has given numerous presentations on college admissions in the performing arts and has been a featured panelist at national conferences. He served as an adjudicator for Classical Singer, NEC concerto competitions, Boston Lyric Opera, and VoicesBoston, and has been on panels for hundreds of conservatory auditions.
